The Bainbridge Chapter was founded on November 7, 1921, and the charter members wished to name the chapter in honor of Commodore William Bainbridge, who founded the city. In recent years, this chapter has assisted in research to locate historical sites in the area and has marked Fort Hughes, Fort Scott, and the Jackson Trail. The chapter assisted in marking Camp Recovery and in restoring the monument in 1969. In 1976, a special service was held in Willis Park in Bainbridge to unveil a monument in memory of four Revolutionary soldiers, early settlers buried in Decatur County. Members who have held state offices are: Virginia Ramsey Simmons, Curator, 1933; Consulting Registrar, 1935; May Lee Ramsey, Librarian, 1939; Dawn Hamill, Chapter Regents Club Chaplain, 2023-2024. The chapter is very proud to be 105 years old and still serving the community with the patriotic dignity and service of the Daughters of the American Revolution.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
