Our Chapter
The Captain John Wilson Chapter has six meetings per year. To better accommodate various schedules, half of the meetings are on Thursdays and half are on Saturdays.
This is how we celebrate in our meetings each month!
- February — American History Awards from Norris Elementary and Dearing Elementary Schools, Georgia Day Programs
- March — Pollinators for Bees, Vegetable and Flowers Gardens and Conservation Programs
- May — Annual Picnic and planning for the next year
- September — Constitution Week, programs on the Constitution
- October — Service for America Project and Program
- November — Veterans Day Program

Annual Projects:

- Sponsor booth at the Camellia City Festival.
- Sponsor the American History Essay Contest for fifth grade students at Norris and Dearing Elementary Schools.
- Present medal to outstanding NJROTC student and Good Citizen Award at Thomson High School.
- Promote Georgia Day and Constitution Week in community.
- Honor First Responders for National DAR Day of Service.
- Support active military with donations to Operation Homefront.
- Honor deserving local citizens with DAR awards: Women in American History, Excellence in Historic Preservation and Community Service.
- Sponsor Wreaths Across America and have honored over 250 veterans with certificates of appreciation.
- Support SAR and participate with DAR & SAR commemorative ceremonies.
- Donate financial support to DAR philanthropies such as Meadow Garden (George Walton’s home in Augusta), DAR designated schools, and a variety of special projects
