{"id":22,"date":"2024-08-25T20:32:21","date_gmt":"2024-08-25T20:32:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chapters.georgiastatedar.org\/colonelwilliamfew\/?page_id=22"},"modified":"2026-06-14T12:14:18","modified_gmt":"2026-06-14T12:14:18","slug":"chapter","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/chapters.georgiastatedar.org\/colonelwilliamfew\/chapter\/","title":{"rendered":"chapter"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-center\">Our Chapter<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Colonel William Few Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, in Eastman, named for one of the two signers of the Constitution of the United States from Georgia, was organized on the morning of April 23, 1913, at the home of Mrs. Valeria Sauls Peacock, mother of the organizing regent, Mrs. Bessie Peacock Wilkins. Fourteen women had qualified for membership, and of the fourteen, ten were present at the chartering meeting. The infant chapter began its work along educational and constructive lines and, during the first years of its existence, established a record of interest and effort in these endeavors. Medals were presented to students who excelled in U.S. History, and several markers were erected to mark the graves of Revolutionary War soldiers.
