Our Chapter
The Edmund Burke Chapter in Waynesboro was organized on February 2, 1925, at the home of Mrs. Rosa McMaster, Organizing Regent. The chapter name was chosen to honor of the famous Irish orator and statesman, who was a member of the British Parliament and espoused the cause of the American colonies. He opposed the attitude of England toward the colonists before and after the Revolutionary War and directed all the powers of his fiery eloquence to heal the fatal breach between the mother country and her colonies. In 1778, he delivered his famous speech against the employment of the Indians in the war against America. The chapter was glad to adopt the name of so able a statesman, who was a friend of our nation in our struggle for independence.
