Our Chapter
The Nathaniel Abney Chapter, NSDAR, was organized in 1911 and was named for the Organizing Regent’s ancestor, who served as a captain of the old 96th District in the colony of South Carolina. We are located in Fitzgerald, Georgia, in Ben Hill County.
Fitzgerald is known as the Blue and Gray City because at the end of the Civil War, a Union soldier named Fitzgerald went home and organized a colony to settle in the piney woods of south Georgia. This was a sparsely settled area; of course, the people here were Southerners. We are proud of the Blue and Gray Museum, which tells our story. It is located in the old train depot in Fitzgerald.
If you would like to attend a meeting, please contact our chapter for additional information.
