Ross and was named after a North Carolina revolutionary war patriot. The Charter members were:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"margin-left: 240px; text-align: left;\">\n<li>Fanny Prescott Ross<\/li>\n<li>Rosalind Davis<\/li>\n<li>Henrietta Holt<\/li>\n<li>Mabel Prescott Slappey<\/li>\n<li>Susie Derry Parker<\/li>\n<li>Fanny Jacqueline Edwards<\/li>\n<li>Mary Battle Lowery<\/li>\n<li>Ellie Walker West<\/li>\n<li>Lenora Wells Adams<\/li>\n<li>Mary Munnerlyn English<\/li>\n<li>Helen Ross Rogers<\/li>\n<li>Gladys Parker Whellis<\/li>\n<li>Katie Porter Barnett<\/li>\n<li>Ruby Jones Grace<\/li>\n<li>Viola Felton Ross<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<figure id=\"attachment_166\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-166\" style=\"width: 126px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-166 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/chapters.georgiastatedar.org\/nathanielmacon\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/57\/2024\/11\/Fort-Hawkins-blockhouse.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"136\" height=\"140\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-166\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>Southeastern Blockhouse of Fort Hawkins, photo courtesy Echo Halstead Burre<\/em>ll<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 120px; margin-right: 120px; text-align: justify;\">Nathaniel Macon Chapter&#8217;s most outstanding project was the rebuilding of the Fort Hawkins Blockhouse. In 1914, the Chapter erected a granite boulder on the site of Fort Hawkins. In 1928, plans were made and blueprints furnished gratis by Curran Ellis. On March 19, 1979, at the dedication, a marker was placed at the Blockhouse. The Chapter is still using a gavel made from one of the original logs from the old fort, dated 1906 and made for our first Regent, Mrs. Edgar Ross. The chapter observed its 100th Anniversary in 2005.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left: 120px; margin-right: 120px; text-align: justify;\">Through the efforts of the Nathaniel Macon Chapter, NSDAR, and the Works in Progress Administration, this replica of the Southeastern Blockhouse of Fort Hawkins was built on the site of the original Fort in 1938 and is open to the public.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Our Chapter The Nathaniel Macon Chapter, NSDAR, was organized on January 14, 1905 by Mrs. Edgar A.
