By 1789, he was living in Wrightsboro, Georgia, on the Little River. He later moved to the Broad River region of North Carolina, where he met and married Rebecca Gay. Their first two children were born there in 1772 and 1774. When the Revolutionary War began, Robert joined the Whigs to fight against the British and held the rank of lieutenant. He served as Officer of the Guard under James Blair of Virginia and South Carolina.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">James Patton Loughridge, the second great-grandson of Robert Loughridge, was the father of Ruth Ann Pannell and Eunice \u201cPeg\u201d Fincher, our founding members. Mrs. Fincher served as the first regent of the chapter. The nineteen members of the first chapter were from Murray and Whitfield Counties, and fourteen of them were direct descendants of Robert Loughridge. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today, seven direct descendants of Robert Loughridge are members of the Robert Loughridge Chapter, which currently has 75 members.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Our Chapter The Robert Loughridge Chapter was organized in the spring of 1976.
