Though based in Evans, Georgia, many members live all over the central Savannah River area, and we actively participate in events located throughout the area. Although we meet on Saturday afternoons to accommodate working women and mothers of school-age children, we are from all age groups and walks of life. We believe in the strength of diversity and using member talents to promote our goals of historic preservation, patriotism, and education.

Stallings Island Chapter, NSDAR, is a chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR or DAR), and a part of the Georgia State Society, DAR (GSSDAR). The Fall Zone is a geological transitional area between the rocky Piedmont and the sandy Coastal Plain. The island, a designated National Historic Landmark site, was donated to the Archaeological Conservancy by Wyck and Shell Knox in 1997.

Stallings Island was a significant settlement of Late Archaic Native Americans between 4500 and 3500 years ago. Significant archaeological findings of shellfish and other food remains, artifacts, pit features, and human burials support the belief that this was the home of a culture advanced beyond those surrounding it. The Stallings fiber-tempered wares are the oldest examples of pottery in North America.

Donkeys were introduced in 2008 to control plant overgrowth.

Stallings Island was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1961.

Pottery shards

*Please note that Stallings Island is not open for visitors, and anyone on the
property without permission is considered trespassing.*

Our Chapter Our chapter was organized on December 15, 2018.
