Our Chapter
The Tallassee Chapter was organized on January 24, 1962, in Tifton, Georgia, with 21 charter members. The chapter chose the name “Tallassee” because, in the Native American language, it meant “Good Hunting Ground.” This entire section of Georgia was considered a good hunting ground by Native Americans. The settlers named Tallahassee, Florida, from the same word, but misspelled it.
