Our Chapter

The Elizabeth “Quatie” Ross Chapter, NSDAR, of Lookout Mountain, Georgia, was confirmed by the National Board of Management on February 2, 2019, during the administration of President General Ann Dillon and Georgia State Regent Melodye Brown. On May 8, 2019, the chapter held its organizing meeting and installed its first officers, marking the official beginning of the Elizabeth “Quatie” Ross Chapter under the leadership of Organizing Regent Michelle Workman.

The chapter is named for Elizabeth “Quatie” Ross, the first wife of Cherokee Chief John Ross. Remembered in connection with the Trail of Tears, Quatie Ross died in 1839 while traveling west during Cherokee removal and is buried at Mount Holly Cemetery in Little Rock, Arkansas. Her story connects the chapter to the history of the region and reflects the importance of preserving her memory.

One of the chapter’s signature projects is the annual Independence Day parade for the City of Lookout Mountain, Georgia. This event gives members an opportunity to share information about DAR, answer lineage questions, and promote patriotic education in the community. In 2025, the chapter added a new community event: an inaugural colonial Christmas celebration that brought history, fellowship, and community together in a meaningful and festive way.
